Mock up #1

This design was submitted by Michael T. Henderson.  Michael works here at Lincoln and has created a wide array of graphics for various purposes.  This design incorporates a new navigation structure which utilizes dual button bars.  The top bar is static throughout the site and the bottom bar will change to reflect pertinent areas of the page the user is currently viewing.  This design uses a splash image that will link to a feature story or piece of information.  The home page design will be mimicked on the major landing pages so each area can highlight information for their specific area.

Clicking on the image below will take you to a developmental site where you can see the basic functionality of the hover navigation.   When the site is developed, the bottom-level navigation bar that you see here will be links.  In this mock up design, it’s only displaying the sub-navigation text to give everyone an idea of what content is planned for each area.

Nice colors. Clean looking. I like the roll-overs that show the links in the bar below, but I assumed they were links, but couldn’t navigate to them. Would be nice if they were links and I could select them, rather than having to navigate to the second level page, then navigate again to get to my selected area.

OK, it says, “Lincoln has established itself as the technology hub of the midwest.” Is that a mock up saying as well? I would think other schools could sue us for that….

    Nice Job.

  2. luwebmaster Says:

Thanks, James. The roll-overs will be links. In both designs, when you hover the top-level navigation, the bottom will populate and you’ll be able to select where you’d like to go from there. I’ll add a little more explanation to the mockup page to make that more clear.

The “technology hub of the midwest” is just for the mock up.

  3. Andrew Erb Says:

I like the Colors and it is very professional and clean looking. Could you add a soft borders around the links for the top navigation bar? (see my comments on Mock 2 also).

  4. Wanda Harper Says:

I prefer Mock 1. I like the way Lincoln University stands out on Mock 1. The blue coloring is nice.

  5. Mark Heckman Says:

I like Mock #1 the best.

  6. Jennifer Says:

I prefer Mock 1. It is more classic, academic in style. The one thing I don’t like is the image in the header/logo. Overall a great redesign!

  7. Cynthia Washington Says:

I prefer Mock 1, it is much more appealing and attractive than Mock 2. The coloring and lay-out are fantastic.

  8. Connie Shaw Says:

I really like Mock 1, it looks very nice and professional!

  9. Alma Says:

I really like Mock 1 muc, much better than mock one, the color coordination, the professionalism …

  10. Debra Greene Says:

I like the openness of this page. I shared it with my husband and he said Mock up #1 looked more inviting. Both redesigns are good but this one is a little better.

  11. Michelle Campbell Says:

I would prefer mock one because it has an openness about it and it seems as if it will be more beneficial to newcomers of the LU website (easier directions). It just has a refreshing look!

  12. Ablo Bah Says:

Great job! Version one is better. Please correct the banner to say: Lincoln University, Missouri.

  13. Pat Pollock Says:

I prefer the navigational features of the top half of Mock 2 and the artistic design of Mock 1. Personally, I think staged photos of smiling students are goofy. How about a simple collage of real life at Lincoln instead? That could include the graduates on our current banner, the athletes on the Mock 1 banner, and perhaps a shot of Soldier’s Memorial with students passing by. I believe such images would invoke the “feeling” of Lincoln more honestly.

  14. Becca Mickels Says:

I prefer the look of Mock 1. I think Mock 2 looks more like an adapted template for a website, whereas Mock 1 looks more like it has been custom-designed for LU. I do like that the LU Portal is more prominent in Mock 2, so perhaps that could be adjusted on Mock 1.

  15. Denise Ridenhour Says:

I really like the look of Mock 1. I do have a question though, on the current LU website under the student tab you can clearly see Counseling & Career Services, on this new design you do not see that, how will our students find us?

  16. Amy Butzer Says:

I like Mock 1. It looks very clean, crisp & eye catching.

  17. Joshua Peters Says:

I like Mock #1 the design looks good as well as the wedsite layout.

  18. Melissa Miller Says:

I prefer Mock 1 over Mock 2, but they’re both great designs. I like that the you have a “Giving to LU” link to the Foundation. Also, where will the scholarships be listed? I know the Foundation would like to have their downloadable application linked with the other University Scholarship applications. It’s a little hard for students to find our scholarship application currently.

  19. Melissa Says:

I like the design on Mock 1 because it is easier to navigate. I also like the design and it looks very easy and clean. However, I like to navigation design on Mock 2 but I prefer the web page on Mock 1.

  20. DeAnna Says:

    I vote for Mock #1

  21. Adrienne Wilson Says:

    I vote for mock #1

  22. Gerald Kendrick Says:

I like the look and feel of mock number one. Its look shows balance. Its feel is one of community and sharing. Mock 1 feels like I am accurately using or clicking through a well-planned college web site.

  23. Patrick Henry Says:

Mock looks inviting and is easy to navigate.

  24. Gabrielle Malfatti-Rachell Says:

I also like mock 1. I found it cheerful and engaging.
Thanks for undertaking this important task and enhancing our face to the world.

  25. liz Says:

Mock 1 is cleaner and neater. I like this one best.

  26. Timothy J. Hykes Says:

Several things… I love the colors and the design… but I was wondering… that experience education picture…. it would be great if that picture change every time someone visits the website…. an example of this is http://www.upenn.edu/ … once you click the fun don’t stop… there are about 8 to 9 good photos of sporting events, their campus and their diverse student population… Other than that…. i like it

  27. Jamere Brown Says:

I really like mock 1, I like the design, the feel, the color, the options, It just feels like lincoln.
